Operation room at Fertility center of CHA medical center is a place where oocyte retrieval, embryo transplantation, male infertility and other procedures associated with infertility are performed. This is a place to begin a birth of new life. Our professional staff members will try to support patients on the basis of concept of healing of both body and mind by providing an operation room for relaxing along with the psychological aspects of supports.

1. Surgery information

  • This biopsy is required to determine the cause of azoospermia that is whether it is a testicular problem. And, this treatment should be performed to collect sperm from testicle. Usually, this is carried out under local anesthesia and also intravenous anesthesia in some cases. The surgery takes about 20~30 minutes and may leave the clinic in the case of local anesthesia.

2. Preparation before the surgery

  • Payments for surgery. (surgery costs, prescriptions, cost of sperm freezing)
  • Do not eat any foods including water from midnight.
  • Surgical site is shaved to prevent infection. (Abdominal and whole testicular area)
  • Driving after the procedure is prohibited. (Please accompany with a guardian)
  • Do not wear valuables.

3. Cautions after surgery

  • Does not require removing of stitches as it is absorbable sutures used for the surgery.
  • Bandages for the wound may be removed on the next day of the surgery.
  • Oral antibiotics are prescribed and please apply disinfectant (eg. Betadin) for 1~2 times per day.
  • Possible to take a shower after 2~3days of the surgery and avoid an excessive irritation on the surgical site.
