Clinical research center conducts a series of works to improve pregnancy through
oocytes retrieval, fertilization and embryonic development for patients with infertility.
Clinical research laboratory includes Fertility Research Laboratory doing basic
and clinical research and Genetic Laboratory which carries out researches on the
prevention of birth defects, miscarriages and still borns. Various genetic diseases
in the pediatric periods can be diagnosed by cytogenetic and molecular biological
methods.
Main works of the laboratory include many processes such as oocyte retrieval retrieval,
maturation, fertilization and embryo culture, cryopreservation of oocytes, embryos,
and sperms, analysis of morphology and motility of sperms, micromanipulations (intracytoplasmic
sperm injection, assisted hatching, PGD) and so on. These advanced clinical analyses
will support further development of clinical treatments.
Furthermore, research on in vitro maturation of oocytes, development of new cryopreservation
technology, establishment of embryo culture techniques for good embryo quality,
and long term culture of testicular sperm extraction (TESE) are in progress. Studies
on in vitro maturation of oocytes, fertilization and oocytes/embryo cryopreservation
have already been awarded several times as the Best Papers at the international
conferences.

Genetics Laboratory in the Fertility Center of CHA Gangnam Medical Center, which
consists of two divisions, Clinical Cytogenetics Molecular Genetics, is one of the
leading clinical genetics laboratories with professional staffs and state-of-art
