IVF is an assisted reproductive technology (ART) which involves retrieving oocytes and sperm and introducing them in laboratory conditions to increase the possibility of fertilization. Successfully fertilized oocytes are cultured into embryos. Then after about 3~5 days of incubation in the laboratory, the embryos are deposited via a catheter which is passed through the vagina and cervix directly into the intrauterine cavity for implantation.
- Occlusion of both fallopian tubes
- Infertility due to immunological problem
- An unsuccessful pregnancy due to insufficient sperm count and motility
- Failed pregnancy due to unknown causes
